Default Oil pressure w/V6>V8 swap

I did a search but didn't find any topic that seemed to fit my situation, so here is my question.

My 94 Camaro has had a V6 to V8 swap. When I first start my car(cold) the oil pressure reads good around the 3rd hash mark. As it warms up the pressure stays up around the 1/2 mark but when I let it idol it drops down to the first mark. I don't hear any knocking from the engine.

Could this be due to the engine swap, and if so, what can I do to remedy this issue?

Showing a low oil pressure scares the crap out of me, and it sometimes sets off the Service engine light.

Thanks

i wouldnt see why the swap would affect the oil psi, unless they didnt swap out the gauge cluster. try changing your oil and using something thicker.

As a rule of thumb, you need 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM on a fully warmed up engine. Oil pressure is always higher when the engine is cold, and drops as the engine gets warm. Oil pressure increases with RPM until about 70-80 PSI when the pressure relief valve opens. You need at least 5 PSI at idle. IMO your oil pressure is OK.
