Default oil pressure and rpms

Ok I already searched and I couldnt find any threads like my problem, before you all attack me.

Its a 2000 3.8 with 106k on it, usually the oil pressure stays right around the 60 mark, just a little above usually. I was coasting on the highway to day and saw my rpms sort of "pulsing" up from about 500, and noticed my oil pressure was bouncing the same, it never made it to 30 psi, but it made it to prolly atleast 40 psi. It accelerates the same, no smell, not overheating, no oil leak, no smoke in exhaust, so Im kinda stumped. I dont actually know why its doing this, but one of my friends used to work for napa and he said when their delivery vehicles did that they just seafoamed the gas tank and changed the oil and the problem went away. Im gonna be changing my oil tommorow, even though its only got about 1k miles on it, but better safe than sorry.

What could cause this? And has anyone else ever had this happen?

When I'm at idle mine sits at about 40 psi. Driving it's about 60 psi. I'm sure the oil pressure was following the rpms. Not sure why the rpms were doing that though.

Ive got some general maintenance parts i can put on, and i think im gonna do that, probably have my car scanned again, look for stored codes, then buy the oil and what not and do alot of my ignition at the same time.

Scanned for oil pressure issue? First off 10 PSI per 1000 RPM's before you get to a danger zone. Second that factory and many after market gages are very inaccurate and tend to move around. There is almostmorechance this is a grounding problem or sending unit issuethen and an oil pressure issue. In fact if two gages where acting funny and you did not feel the engine changing you should check all your under dash grounds. Sounds like something came loose.

No there was definitly a change in sound that the engine was dipping in rpms. Other than that I really dont know where to start, but after searching it seems that the oil pressure sending units on the 3.8s have a way of violently and without warning going out, so maybe Ill change that too.
