thats what ive always been taught,granted it was by a ford master technician...

I am not following the logic. If I take a 350 with a 180K that has 10psi at idle and i put a high volume/high pressure pump in it I will have higher oil pressure. This will help get the oil up to the valves and it will help the motor to last longer. Sure the bearing are still worn and will fail at some point but a engine with good oil pressure at lease has a chance of working. Once the oil pressure fall below 10 psi per thousand RPMs you will damage parts quickly.

it should say what oil you should use probably 10w30 i like Mobil 1 personally, i can't really help you on this problem because i kinda have the same problem. trying to figure it out. this weekend is "work on my car weekend"
