Default Oil Light Problem Still

It's not a big deal, it's actually more annoying than anything, but for the last 3 weeks whenever I start my car for the first 5 min the "Change Oil" light stays on and then goes away. I was about 200 miles from a scheduled oil change so I figured what the hell I might as well change it and see if that takes care of it. But to my suprise I had the oil changed today and same thing. I had the guys check it out and they said everything looked normal. I don't know what to do? I'm probably not going to do anything because it's not a big deal but any idea for what I can do without forking out money to have something replaced?

I would say your oil life monitor didn't get reset. Your car's computer doesn't know the engine has new oil in it until you reset it. What kind of knuckleheads are you taking your car to anyway?

There is a procedure in your owners manual on how to reset the light.

How to Reset the GM Oil Life System

After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.

[*]Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine turned off.[*]Push the TRIP/OIL RESET button located on the instrument panel for 12 seconds. The OIL CHANGE light will start to flash to confirm that the system is reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE light goes out.[/ol]
