Default Oil Level Sending Unit

Have any of you guys replaced yours? I replaced mine because the OEM was leaking right out of the center where the electrical connector goes. The new one uses an O ring to seal against the oil pan, but the old one used a flat washer which is actually attached to the unit itself... I cant seem to get the new one to seal up. Ive screwed it in as tight as I dare with a crescent wrench. Did I get the wrong part or is there something Im missing here? Its an Autozone part... it was 38 darn bucks!!!

clean both surfaces with brake cleaner. make sure there are no rust, dents or bends in the pan where sensor mounts. add some high heat rvt to the seal area. torque at 106 inch pounds. i think gm sells the flat washer if all else fails.

Just did mine a couple of weeks ago. Same deal, leaking THROUGH the sensor.

I had no probs with the new one sealing though.

When all else fails, a little black RTV goes a long way.

Ok thanks for the tips guys... I will remove it and clean, then follow with some RTV. My drilled/slotted rotors and pads came in this week, so Ill get to it this weekend when I have the car on the lift.
