Default Oil Sending Unit

Does the oil need to be drained to change out the oil sending unit? Thanks

Only if you want to change it with the engine running....which wouldn't last long.
The serious answer is no, because oil is pumped up to it.
You are talking about the sending unit for the gauge, and not the oil level sensor in the pan, right?

Thanks! Yes its the sending unit. And the motor wont be running. I am wondering how the thing unplugs.. I know its an easy fix and all, but when I tried to pull back or away the insulator, I wasnt able to actually see the unit.. So I was just gonna have at it once I picked up the part. Any experience is appreciated..? Thanks again

Installed the unit, and was an easy fix. Can reach the part from up top on drivers side. Screws in next to the oil filter. Need a 1 1/16 deep socket, but may get a wrench on it as I was able to. They break easy.. Good thing it was the old one.
