Oil Brand
Well I added seafoam to my oild about 160 miles before. So when I drained it earlier today it was pitch black, and kinda thick. I went ahead and bought Mobil 10W30, even though the guy at AutoParts recommended 10W40 (fellow Camaro owners' advice is more credible), and a Mobil oil filter. They tried to convince me to buy fram. LMAO, good thing I asked you guys before I bought.
Anyway, my first oil change wasn't too easy. The previous owner tightened the draining bolt and oil filterlike crazy. Took an hour for me an my friend to get them out, and we ended up getting a new bolt anyway, cause the old one was bad.
But yea, now its all done and there is a noticable difference in throttle response. The engine seems to be running smoother and sort of lighter too now. First oil change! Spark plugs and wires coming up next weekend, based on Stig's new how to. And then the fuel filter. Still don't know how to do that.

well i know on a Z its pretty easy the fillter is inline in ront of thr rear driverside tire i would think the same goes for the 6ers but i have been wrong b4, and the seafoam thing up untill i joined here i never really heard about it, but even on here i have heard good and bad but i am still not sure what the hell it is or does or anything.

the other thing u can do to help clean it out or atleast i have always done is pour a qt of trans fluid in the eng b4 i do any oil change i run for 10 to 15 min at idle or i drive for 5 to 10 miles then do my oil change .. it helps get all the crap out because of the detergents in it it breaks up the oil and get rid of the sludge. it just break up the oil so when u do it the first time i always get the cheap 5-30 and run it for about 100 miles then change it out to the good stuff and from then on i all i do is pour in some trans fluid right before i do an oil change and i have never had a problem and my oil always looks good after 3000 or so miles.. just what i do.

youll acctually get a few mpg better gas milage with mobil 1 lol. yes it will run smother. your off to a good start with the car man. now on to the plugs and wires lol.... you think changing the oil that took an hour was bad? wait till that job lol.
I've had my 3.8 for about 5 months now and the only thing I've managed to do is get a K&N air filter for it even though I've been swearing up and down that I'm going to mod. Which I can definitly tell the difference with the K&N from the Fram especially with a standard in 1st gear. I've been thinking about 2 things as my next step and they are plugs and wires, and afluid flush of everything. Am I going to notice anything withperformanceplugs and wires over standard? And I can't find a fluids flush anywhere for under 400, how hard is it to do?
That would depend on how old your current plugs are. If your engine us struggling with them like mine then yea, expect a noticable difference. Don't think the more expensive plugs and wires would help you much on a stock engine though, except possibly make it more reliable.
Its more like something you do to bring your car back to its original glory, lost over the years and thousands of miles. And as a supporting mod for other stuff you may do to the engine like nos.

Personally I love Castrol Syntec Full Synth High Milage, started using it two oil changes ago and its helped out alot, just allowing everything to spin freer (is that a word?) and maybe its just in my head but I noticed improved throttle response over the classic fossil fuel.
