Unhappy odometer problem

My odometer in my 95 v6 jus went out. The trip, speedometer, and tach still function but the actual odometer doesnt turn any longer. Did some research and based on that going to replace the plastic gear on the odometer. Question is how do i remove the dash board to take the instrument cluster out. If any one has done this before it would be a great help.

Its not really all that hard to get out. Pop the front dash piece off by lifting it up off some very strong velcro and a few clips and pull that out. BE CAREFUL!!! This can easily crack, I broke mine when I took it out, take your time. From there I THINK you can just remove the 7mm? screws that hold the housing around the cluster out. If not you just need to pop off some plastic around the housing, but I think it should come out at this point. Then there I think there are 4 more 7mm screws to remove the cluster and a single plug and its out.

I have the opposite problem... my odometer works fine (290xxx and going), but the trip meter is stuck at 0000. I don't think that's worth ripping the dash out for, though, LOL.

the book leads a guy a couple places so pictures are a no go. this is how its explained in the book but im beat so use common sense. lol u need to take the knee panel under the steering wheel off, cant remember how many screws but it says 2. u will need to pop the dash pad up at least far enough to get to the top screws, book says to take it out but i didnt. dash-pad has velcro on the windshield side and a couple other places and is snapped in on the outsides and has some location pins u need to look out for. there are a couple ways to do it. i have a new dash so i just popped it up with the trim tool i have. if its brittle u may crack it so be careful. should be four screws holding the gauge cluster bezel in place. also has some switches u will have to unplug. then u should be able to see the screws/bolts holding the gauge cluster in place.
