Not started in 4 yrs.
Hello all. Think i was a member in past, but cant remember my log in info ... Starting anew.
Anywayzzzz, my baby (1995 v6 camaro) has been sitting in garage for approx 4 yrs. Last time i tried to start her she cranked, but wouldn't turn over. No problems before then.
i had other things going and didn't have time to deal with it so i let sleeping beauty sleep. The time has come to wake her from her slumber.
What need i do before cranking her up to ensure it doesn't become a death kiss?

agree with Henry, probably best to drain tank. I would check the smell of the gas. I see two year old gas do ok allot. haven't gone 4. at least I dont recall... gettin old sucks. I do try an use super when im not sure if the car or boat or whatever is gonna set. I have seen regular go bad pretty fast. you may be outa gas,,, lol.
if gas has turned it will smell of varnish. if so going to be a good idea to drain the fuel system between tank and injectors, first change fuel filter. after draining the tank and getting good gas in it, set up a tube for on the fuel pressure fitting, take the valve out of the fitting, its just like a tire fill valve. put a tube or hose on the fitting and the other end in a container preferably a jar or see threw jug so you can see whats coming out. let it go for maybe 10 seconds to get that bad gas out of the lines. hopefully the injectors are not varnished up and sticking. is this a 3.8 or 3.4 I believe the 95 can have either.

IMO at 4 years you could syphon out as much gas as possible then add a bunch of good gas (5 gallons or so) to dilute the bad. Assuming all goes well replace the fuel filter at 500 miles and maybe again in another 500.
Brakes: You may want to swap out the brake fluid but you really want to do a stomp test. Its simple. Once the car is running push the brake pedal as hard as you can. This emulates a panic stop and it is part of out state inspecting although most shops will avoid it even those it is a requirement, It is really tuff to explain to customers that the car the drove in was now undrivable. But it is a good test for any car the has sat unmoving for years. Seals can dry up without be used.
