Nitrous in my Z28
I am wanting to run nitrious in my z28. I found what looks to be a good setup on gravanatuning.com. It is the ZEX wet shot 75 to 150 hp Shot. I am only 17 But i am looking for serious horsepower. And this will also lower my 1/4 mile time some. I want to know if NOS is illigal. And if the cops see it will i get a ticket and. Will my engine even hold NOS. IT has 150,000 miles but it still runs excellent so what do you guys think?
the gutted cat **** is getting really old
we need to know what engine your running since LS1s tend to take to nitrous a bit better than LT1s
with 150K miles i would get a compression test among other things to see if your motor can take the extra compression in the cylinder walls.
and im pretty sure its illegal to have hooked up or some crap like that. whenever i have my bottle in the car i just cover it up with a hoodie just in case somebody looks in my car

First of all, if you have an LS1 (98 or later), why a wet kit? They are a pain compared to the lower cost and installation ease of a dry kit and dry kits go up to 150 HP or more.
I only have experience with LS1. We had various stages on ours, and eventually blew up the stock engine with a cam, headers, and a 175 shot. The car will tolerate a 75 ort 100 shot easily. It is important to get a really good tune on a dyno after installation. Count on using up most of a bottle during the tune.
As far as I know, NOS is legal, sort of. We've run it for years, passed state inspections with the kit installed, had a couple of the inevitable traffic pull overs with it in the car, etc. Its the sort of thing you install and claim you only use at the track, like exhaust dumps at the ends of the headers ("Honest officer, I don't know how they came open, I must have not tightened the bolts well and I guess they loosened and fell off."). I'd hide the bottle (we put ours in the trunk well where the mini spare was supposed to go and cover it with a nice panel) and not make the hoses and solenoids too obvious, and not try to get stopped and searched. If a cop pulls you over for speeding and finds a bottle with the manual valve on top of itopen, it's usually a really bad ticket. (They assume if you opened the bottle then you are using it).

It might depend on which state you live in as far as the legality of Nitrous goes. I know that it is illegal to have it hooked up due to the fire hazard in the event of an accident. My friend used to have a Saleen Focus that came stock with Nitrous and the only reason it was legal is because the car had N20 badges on the car in three easily visible areas. I am guessing that any car that has 3 badges of the same type makes it legal. So when the fire crews or ambulance or whatever sees it they will know that it could blow up.
P.S. Only babies suck on bottles.
P.S.S. You people that have nitrous are driving skunk cars you spray every time you get scared.

why do so many people think nos is illegal? most bottles have a dot # etched into them. therefor they are street legal. and why wouldnt it be legal to be used on the street as long as ur not speeding u can use it. say u have a slow car and u need to speed up to get on a highway its not illegal to use. a friend of mine has a v6 camaro that runs 12s and hes been pulled over a number of times and the cops never said anything except for one guy who said something but then went and checked and found out it is legal.

just so u know there isnt really a fire hazard. nitrous isnt flammable. if the rest of ur car is on fire it could explode but it woudlnt cause a fire in ur car.
