Default Newer fuel injection

I am a X GM tech who used to work on fuel injection in the 80's. Due to and back injury I had to give it up. For the better part of a decade I did not touch a car repair wiseunless I had to. About98 I got back into cars as a hobby but I only worked on the older ones. I have the Camaro in my sig and a 68 pick up. Now I want to geta 4th gen and get back into fuel injection.
Something like this:

If I understand it right the system I know how to work on was obsoleted in 95. I had used many scan tools and really liked the OTC tool and the brain master. I still carry thejummper for getting codes out of the computer on my key change. My question was what scannerdo I need? I see so many different makes and each maker has 3 or 4 models.I would like to get codes and look as sensor inputs and driver out puts. It would be nice to be able to look at a history of what we called the block learn (AKA fuel map history).

I am still a hobbiest so I do not want to pay $600 but I would like to view the map sensor in real time.

Maker?
Model?
Best place to get it?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like something you might want. I'm not sure. I have HPTuners, which can read codes, datalog, allows you to adjust most anything you want. z28pete could probably show you what you're looking for.

Ouch! thats a tad pricey. Looks like they are going to have a plain scanner type tool in the near future for right now they only have the tunner software.
