New here, my 97 z28 lt1 Auto
If anyone could give me a few more pointers to help me solve my problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Problem - When at a dead stop (yes I am positive the car is in 1st gear) and put the pedal to the floor, car heavily bogs down and barely can get out of it's own way, as I hold it to the floor the car comes alive just fine before shifting into 2nd.
Up until yesterday, whenever i wot off the line car would rip up the road with no hesitation.
Recent Changes - The rubber intake elbow was ripped on the bottom from the last owner who didn't properly reinstall it, so i replace that with an slp elbow. Everything fit as it should, sensors and the like.
A full tune up was done when I bought the car back in oct of '14. The whole nine..
Now that I have had this issue i removed , cleaned checked with a scan tool , the MAF sensor. Including unplugging it then test drove, nothing changed. The only thing i can really think of, that i haven't checked yet is fuel pressure. Also, the TPS is giving the correct read out as well. Soooo I'm lost.
I saw a post about a fuel pump that is on it's way out might make the car act this way. Another reason I'm heading in that direction is that the fuel gauge wont go all the way to full when the tank is filled, so i was going to replace the pump anyways, BUT if any of you know what this problem most likely is I could really use the help, I hate driving it like this, it's embarrassing

I'm no expert by any means, but I have the same 97 z28 auto. My gas gauge doesnt read full either. I'd check other things first before I went to the huge trouble of fuel pump. Symptoms remind me of a slipping transmission gear or similar type issue.
I appreciate the reply. The trans is rather new, doesn't slip or anything, and def doesn't even feel like a trans issue. It's got something to do with either fuel or air I'm pretty sure. With my past chevy's it's been related to a vac leak but there isn't one as of now. Everything was fine until i put this new elbow on. It ran great for a full day, and no more check engine light or anything then on the way home from work on a hot day it just didn't feel right and I stomped the gas cause it seemed hesitant to do anything and it about fell on it's face. I should clarify also, it isn't mis firing at all. Top end rpms and speed is fine and hasnt changed. It's all low rpm's. 5 Min ago i went out and checked a few things and drove it down the street normally, all was fine. turned around, stopped stomped on it, it did it again i promptly let off the pedal, and it actually stalled. im pissed
test the throttle position sensor. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...-sensor-70605/ you can use this process only dont have to take tb out. just want to make sure the reading does not jump around and moves up and down smoothly with the throttle going to wot. also test your engine temp sensor. you will have the ohm meter out anyways to test it. 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles if its showing like -40 degrees it will mess the fuel mixture bad rich.
have you done any work on the car right before it failed first time?
