new to camaros and the forum, need help.
so i finally turned my vw into a full project car and decided to get a camaro since one fell in my lap. i will start off by saying what a giant pita doing the plugs and wires are on these cars. and i complained when i had to do plugs and wires on my jetta........ but anyway when i bought the car there were a few lights lit up on the dash. the abs, asr, break light, and the coolant level light. also the keyless entry is not working.
i figure that the abs asr and the break light are all related in some way and i will be doing rotors and pads in the next few days since they are trashed and will look into them while i do it. what are some things to check for while im under the car? any common issues?
as far as the keyless entry i replaced the battery in the fob and no luck( why would it be that easy) the alarm system seems to be working because when i lock the door and walk away it honks twice and it goes off when i open the door with the key and dont put the key in the ignition fast enough. how do i go about programming the remote? also any common issues with these? please dont tell me this requires the gm tech2 scan tool
(even though i can do it at school.
and finally for the coolant light.. it doesnt come on at first but then it comes on dim and then slowly gets brighter over time. there is coolant in the tank so the light shouldnt be on.... what in the world would cause this? bad level sensor?
thanks in advance for any info and ill try to get you guys any info you need to help me out.

first welcome to the forum youve deff come to the right place with your questions... second what year is the car??? (i assume a 98 because of your name but...) what engine???
heres the keyless reprogram (again assuming its a 98)
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
Remove the RADIO (#17) fuse.
Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times within 5 seconds. The BCM will confirm entry into the programming mode by performing the following actions:
Locking both of the doors.
Unlocking the driver's door.
Releasing the rear compartment lid.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter for approximately 15 seconds. The BCM will confirm the programming of that transmitter by performing the following actions:
Locking both of the doors.
Unlocking the driver's door.
Releasing the rear compartment lid.
Repeat the previous step to program up to 4transmitters.
Replace the RADIO (#17) fuse.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.
the coolant sensor is in the radiator not the tank make sure the coolant in the rad is full
is the brake fluid res full (im not sure about the newer camaros weather or not they have level sensors) if its not that its possible the parking brake switch is broken/loose

and good call on the radiator. did not think of that. i just checked the exansion tank. not used to having a radiator i can actually add fluid to :/
and the break fluid level is were it needs to be.

change the brakes and see if the light goes away... if not id check the switch under the center console its possible the wires corroded or the switch itself broke
btw not trying to me an *** or make you feel dumb but "break" is when something needs to be fixed "brake" is whats on your car

The BRAKE light is pretty ambiguous because a million things could trigger it. It usually comes on when the system needs a flush.
ABS INOP could also be a million things, but start with checking for the ABS fuse under the engine bay. My ABS INOP light went away after flushing the system.
ASR is your traction control.

Ill try the fob thing and maybe fix the brakes tonight after work
so the key-less entry is back up and running. thanks for the help with that.
i still have one problem with the locks though. the drivers side seems to be stuck or just really difficult to unlock. the lock mechanism cant put enough force into it to unlock it. i can manage to unlock it by turning the key pretty hard and pulling the handle.
as far as the coolant level sensor there is plenty of coolant in the radiator would that most likely show that the level sensor has gone bad?
i have not got around to replacing the brakes since it has done nothing but rain for last couple of days.
