Default New battery needed?

At night when i want to start my car and i have my car key turned into "on" (without the engine running) the dashboard light are dull and not bright when I finaly start the car the lights slowly get brighter and brighter both on the dashboard as well as my headlight (I have HID lights installed). What might be causing this problem? Is it the battery I can't tell how old the battery itself is because the sticker on it is gone.

Could be the battery. Stop by your local autozone or advanced auto and they can test it and let you know. Sounds like maybe a dead cell. Also, check the battery cable terminals to make sure they are clean and tight as well as the ground on the inner fender on the passenger side. I don't think it would be the alt because with the lights getting brighter, that means the battery is charging.

Yes it could be the alternator. Have it checked out as well. Most autopart stores can check the alternator both on or off the car.

kinda sounds like the problem I had, come to find out I had a bad alternator from the start, I had autozone test the alternator and it always came out good but it was bad, replaced the alternator, and that was bad, exchanged it and fixed my problem.

An Alternator that is checking out can take a good battery with it. If you suspect it to be bad and the test shows it borderline then replace it. I am in the same boat and soon as I can it is going to go away.

What are you doing? You are posting in the 4th gen area bringing up a 11 year old post and asking about a unrelated question on a 2nd gen forum and this is not the first time you did it? If this some new kind of spam. Why would you not just post in the post your are asking about?
