Need some engine opinions
This is for all the 3800II guys out there who have replaced your block. (Or anyone who knows about them).
My search for a new engine for my camaro has been frustrating. everyplace that has a shortblock for my car, wants an obscene amount of money because its for a camaro. i just need a block with a good crank and slugs.
What other cars can I pull the block from that will bolt up to an M49?

so, given that it is modded lightly already, and it is driven fairly hard, would you recommend the series III block and heads for my use?
Series III were 03-08. Check out my thread on the engines and in the beginning of that thread there is a link to an engine buider article about the 3800. It should help you decide. And yes I would use a series III if you are going to be hard on the engine. They can take more abuse.

allright, thanks for that. the search is on. it's just a matter of watching the junkyard until one comes through.
IYO, is there any gains to getting the heads ported and polished?

Yes there is... Check out the http://www.camarohomepage.com/project/index.htm site and read about what they did to this little 4th gen.
