Default need help vats module

Here's my problem, just bought a 2000 camaro with a vats problem. I have a donor car so took the ignition lock and key from it and put into the 2000 camaro, obviously it won't start as the chip in the key is different...so what else do I need to swap from the donor car to make it work? I tried swapping the body control module but still no start. Is there a vats control module or something I need to swap also? If so, where is it?
Thanks for the help.
Also, I read about putting resistors to bypass the vats but the previous owner did that and it didn't work so I think there's other problems.

The simplest thing would be to get a blank key with the same value chip as the one in your Camaro, and then have the blank cut to duplicate the key on the donor car, and also, put the original BCM back in.

well, I soldered chip from old key to wires instead of using resistors and still no start.

I did intall BCM from donor car, no start. I then put old BCM back in and soldered chip from old key to wires to bypass, still no start. There must be something I'm missing. All fuses and relays are good. Ignition and BCM worked perfect on donor car so should work on this car, so it's not the wires from ignition. Could it be ignition module under the coils causing this?

If the engine cranks but does not start it is not a VATS problem. VATS prevents the engine from cranking and disables the fuel injectors. What exacly are you trying to do?

it doesn't crank...I'm trying to get the car started, I just bought it from a guy who was having this problem but now it's my problem. He said it started every now and then so he decided he was going to fix it for good, he replaced the ignition lock and key and jacked around with who knows what but never got it started. I got it home and changed chip from old key to new key, after numerous tries it started once but has failed to start since. I then replaced the lock cylinder and key from a good working donor car and swapped the BCM also. Still won't start. So, I'm runnng down other possibilities such as ignition module, crank sensor, etc.

By cranking, I mean that the starter is able to turn the engine. If the starter is cranking the engine, then most likely it is not a VATS problem, and you may want to check if there is a good spark, good fuel pressure, and that the injectors are being fired (have you checked the fuel injection fuses?). If the starter is not cranking the engine, then it could be a VATS problem, or a bad start relay, bad starter, or bad battery and ground cables and/or connections.

it doesn't crank, starter doesn't engage...starter,fuses, battery, relays, grounds are all good...it started once...it's a VATS problem, it has an old code stored P1629 theft deterrent crank signal malfunction. Something is not allowing it to crank.

it has a factory alarm on it also, had to take the horn relay out as it was constantly going off. any way to disconnect this? maybe it's keeping it from starting. I have no remote for it either.

You got to put everything back the way it was before with the key that came with the car. Find the resistance with an ohm meter of the real key that came with the car. buy a resistane with the same ohms as the key. Cost like 15¢ lolll. Solder the resistance like it says in the instruction. Don't solder that miniature pelet from the key.

If you have old computor parts, look around inside with your ohm meter. You have about 100% chance to find a resistor there to.

The guy who had that car before you just made it worst..... If the mod didn't work it's because he did it wrong lollll

By the way, is your SECURITY light on? Don't recall you talking about it

i can't put it back together because previous owner had changed ignition lock which was loose and broke after i got it, that's why i changed ignition lock also from a donor car, and i ruined the resistor in original key...just realized i was using a BCM from a 2nd donor car, not the one where i got the ignition lock from and i don't have the BCM from that car....so, i'm going to the dealer tomorrow and see if they can sell me a key with correct resistor in it, i was told they charge $40 and can get corrext resistor from the VIN number..only other options are for dealer to delete vats from the computer or have a locksmith try all 15 codes, both which are more costly than having a key made with correct resistor.
yes security light stays on for about 3 minutes every time i try and start it.
