Need help buying first Camaro
I am currently in Iraq but I have fallen in love with the later generation Camaros and I want to buy one for when I get back. What kind of questions do I need to be asking specifically for Camaros any well known problems or anything? I am currently looking at a 1993 Camaro Z28, 350 LT1, Hooker cat-back exhaust, moroso cold air intake, 112,000. Is this a good deal or would I be getting screwed? Any Advice would be very appreciated!

I just bought a 95 z/28. Be sure to check all the inner fenders for rust. Camaro's are notorous for rust under the sideskirts and behind the fenders. Also be sure to check the ttops for leaks, this is a most common mistake for z/28 buyers. Another tip is to find out how hard the car was driven in the past. You don't want a car that was driven too extreme or rough. Check on the inside of the rear bumper for bits of rubber which would have stuck there from excessive burn outs. Finally, and most importatly, getunder the car. Check all the seals for leaks. (oil pan, trans, dif, etc.) Good luck, the z/28's are great cars.
KellyBlue Book the price to save yourself from getting screwed.
I paid 4,000 for mine with 109k mi.

I drove a 93 Z once, and it was sloww.. It was about as fast as my v6, but it sounded way better.. It had over 220k on it though..
Something to watch out for is the opti-spark thing i guess.. Pete or someone with an LT1 could probably tell you more about that..

The optispark distributor will go out eventually, it's inevitable, so keep $600 in savings so you have the money when it happens. Take spectre460's advice on what to look for. The '93 is the black sheep of the 4th gens because it still uses MEMCAL chips instead of a reprogrammable PCM and it has an MAP sensor, not an MAF among other things that single it out. It's not a bad car, but it's going to take some special care if you're looking to further modify it from what's already been done. Beware of purchasing cars that already have performance modifications, often times that's a clue to how the previous owner drove the car, and nobody wants a car that has had the crap beaten out of it.

Man, I hope you guys don't actually believe that a V6 Camaro has anything on a V8...go talk to BigNic about which is faster between me and him, we have numbers to prove it!
