Default Need Help!

So I decided to park Sofie for the winter, I bought a POS Friday to use. Saturday was our first big snow and Sofie has been parked since Friday morning. I went to clean her off just a little bit ago to get her ready to be 'officially parked' in a different spot in our driveway. She was all cleaned off and I used the key fob to unlock her. She unlocked and I got in. I went to start her...and nothing. No power, no lights, no radio...no crank...no nothing. What happened? I only had her parked for a couple days. How could the battery have died so quickly? The key fob won't lock now or anything and there's a weird ticking inside now. The security light is blinking really fast too with this ticking. Help please????!!!!!

If the securty light is on or blinking, the VATS system is unhappy with your key and keeping the car from starting. Try cleaning the contacts on the key and spray contact cleaner into the lock & work the key in & out several times. If you have a spare key, try it out first. Let us know if that helps or not.

It ended up being something really stupid. My dad figured it out. Something on the battery terminal was slightly loose/wet from all the snow apparently. He just wiggled something around and it decided to reestablish the connection. I've had a lot of security problems before, but I was getting zero power...so I didn't think it was that. Kinda weird...but oh well. It was minor. Freaked me out though.

Very similar thing happened to me the last two winters. Whenever it was COLD out, my security light would go haywire and there was a ticking from the BCM (under the passenger side dash). I replaced the BCM and it's great now. Don't believe your dealer when they tell you it'll cost $150 to program the thing. All you have to do to program VATS is turn the key, and all the other stuff like power locks, etc. have programming info in the user manual.

The cheapest deal I found was on Ebay:

Make sure you get one WITH keyless entry support, since you mentioned you have the keyfob.

Ah, that's exactly what it was doing, the ticking from the BCM (I had no idea what this was or why it was doing it). It's the only time it has happened though. I guess I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it's not going bad. Thanks, that explains that part of the earlier drama.

If you want more info about exactly what my problem was, check this post:

Before I replaced my BCM, that happened any time it was cold out (like 45 degrees or lower). It also happened once when I let my battery run down too low. Hasn't happened once in the last month (since I changed the BCM), even though it's been below freezing several times. We even had snow this weekend (OMG, snow in AL!), and no problem at all.

I wish I had anoher car to drive so I could winterize my Camaro, but this baby is my DD...

Thanks! I'll keep that post in mind in case it happens again. I was really caught off guard with the rapid flashing and ticking...I thought it was going to blow up or something, ha. This is my first winter with Sof and we tend to get a decent amount of snow, so I was pretty much forced to get a cheap winter beater and park her for awhile.
