Default Need advice for a salvage 5.3

Hello, I tried posting this in my other forums but got no replies so I'd like to try it here. I need some pointers to a possible 5.3 V8 project that I'm thinking of buying. It a salvaged 5.3 from a rolled-over 2004 Envoy. I met up with the owner the other day and the truck's body is history but the engine and trans seems to be intact except for a cracked alternator housing. I told the owner that I has intrested if I could hear the engine run.

I brought along a spare battery and hooked it up. I noticed that the owner had damage the steering column to get to the ign. s/w. He attempted to crank it over with a screwdriver but it wouldn't turn over. All the dash lights came on when key in the "on" position but no turn over.

There was a small gray sensor or module with 3 wires hanging near the ign s/w. I told the owner that this vehicle may have some sort of factory anti-theft system and probably needs the original ign key to complete the circuit.

I'm really intrested in buying this eng/trans for a future project but I need to make sure the engine runs. Anyone know an easy way to bypass the anti-theft system. As I mentioned, the little module has 3 wires, R-w, O-b, and Yellow. # on it is 690715ab1 3286.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh, come on Gorn! They do it in the movies all the time. Just reach up under the dash, pull a lump of wires down, and touch the pre-stripped pink and green wires together. It should start right up! Or....was that the red and blue wires? Damn, where's an actor when you need one?
