Default Need advice with 94 camaro

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and to Camaro's, but not to cars. (I've owned several Honda's and currently own a 91 crx si.

I have a relative offering to sell me his 1994 Camaro, which is the base model I believe with the 3.4L V6 automatic for $200. It's had a new motor put in about 50k miles ago, and has 240k on the chassis. Like I said I know Nothing about these cars, but I do know it needs some work.

He told me it needs:
1) PCV valve
2) new motor mounts/tranny mounts
3) exhaust
4) a/c needs to be fixed
5) shocks and struts

I'm sure there is additional work that needs to be done but I'm just wondering how tough/expensive it would be to get the car running right. Thanks for the input in advance!

Alan

Can't go wrong for $200 even if it takes a few months to get it all fixed up.

I plan on doing it all myself. I'm assuming I will need an engine hoist to replace the mounts, not sure how easy it would be to change them without the hoist.

Like I said, I have never worked on Chevy motors before, but I do have experience with the honda motors. (clutch replacement, suspension work, etc)

you dont need a hoist, you can use a transmission jack to lift the motor up

There are many national chain parts stores on line as well as many different non chain parts stores. Just google what you want and you will all kinds of links to chose from. Don't forget about your local bone yard for some used parts if you are looking to save a few bucks.

Well I replaced the PCV valve and cleaned out the hose that connects to it today, and it was full of junk.

Also, figured out where the freon is leaking out of my a/c system, luckily that will only cost about $40 to fix!

Thanks for the help
