I am saving money for spring to put into it.

I should look for a 12bolt instead of just swapping in 373s?

I did see a set of 373s in the forsake listings on the site for 150$

But I think I am going to get the ECM tune/dyno as priority
Then tires (the tires on it are getting old)

Suspension and breaks will come once I put it on the road and see what I am working with.

At $150 is the gears only the cost of installing them is much higher then the price of the gears. (plus you will need bearings & seals)Most guys the build rears are only going to install certain manufactures. Make sure you know who is going to setup your rear and that they are OK with the gears you are buying before you buy them. Remember gears do not make the rear any stronger and factory 4th gen rears are a weak spot even with a stock motor.

Exactly. Get the 12 bolt, 9in, or S60 andthe 3.73s or 4.10s if you really want to launch. Not sure how much you know on rear ends for our cars so here's some quick info:

Stock GM 10 bolt uses a 7.5" ring gear (bigger = stronger). Uses c-clip retention on the axles. If the c-clip breaks, your axle can walk itself out of the housing, these can be eliminated. Weak axle tubes.


The 12 bolt uses a 8.875" ring gear. Was found on your higher horsepower GM cars and almost all 1/2 and 3/4 trucks. It's major downfall is the c-clips used to retain the axle, these can be eliminated though.

Your 9in uses exactly that, a 9 inch ring gear. Stronger than the 12 bolt and used pressed on bearings to retain the axle. They are almost indestructible, I've seen a few blow out, but your car won't break it. Also has nearly unlimited gear options and can be easily swapped. It's downfall however is that pinion is placed 2.25 inches below the ring gear centerline. This creates more drag and higher temps in the rear, so you'll lose more power due to parasitic drag. It's also roughly 30 lbs heavier than the 12 bolt.

The S60 is based on the Dana 60 which is the king of kings if you ask me. Uses a 9.75 inch ring gear, thick walled tubes, and was found behind high horsepower MOPARS and many, many 3/4 and 1 ton HD trucks. I haven't heard of any one breaking one of these racing, yet. Axle spline count up too 35. Downfall is they can be heavy and I believe they use c-clips for axle retention, but I may be wrong on that.
