why not build the lt1? do some reading, the ls1 switch is pretty extensive and time consuming. changing to a manual trans is also a large project but if your switching to a ls then all the wiring and computers that would be changed to switch tranies will need to be changed anyways.

Is the engine swap already done? If not do you know what is involved in this swap? Same with the trans, Swaping a trans is almost as complex as an engine.

Get the Optima battery from your local autopart store, future warraty issues will be much easier to handle. Underdrive pulleys are not worth the money. A couple hundered $$$ for only 5-10 HP... no way.

I think the LS1 swap into a 97 is a pretty common thing. It is only a few wires to change or you can swap in a already made harness. There are some shops offeriing to do the swap. I did some research. Even the OBD 1 systems can be adapted pretty easly. To swap my 93 to a LS1 is the nightmare we always think of when we think V6 swap

I do have to wonder if its worth it. With the price of LS1 6 speeds dropping weekly is it really worth all that work? I have seen high miles LS1 6 speeds going for 5-6K. If your 97 is still running might be worth it to buy a high miles LS1 6 speed and redo it. It will be worth a lot more when its done. Very few people will buy a converted car.

Edit: I was guessing ti was a V8 car. Is it a V6?

sooooo many 'hidden costs' and challenges would go into this swap... its a whole lot more than just changing out the big stuff on your list.
not to say you cant do it or the stuff u chose is wrong, just make sure u really logically think things thru before spending big money and realizing its a much bigger job than you expected..
theres people like me that would be dying for your LT-1 setup!!!!

I know you came here looking for advice but do you think you could give us some info on your swap? I have been reading a lot lately about the LT1 to LS1 swap but we do not have anyone on this site that has done it. We have at least one member that paid someone to do the swap but no real tech info on it. I think most of us know what is involved with the Tranny swap buy any info might help newer members.
Since your swap is done your should just head over to the LS1 section and post in there since you car is basicly a stock LS1 at this point.

Thanks in advance.
