Not true, convertibles have easier access to the rear adjusters, once you have installed them! ;-) Newer Camaros have perforated carpet at the shock slots -- all you have to do is cut along the line and you have a flap -- again, the 'Vert design is much different from the coupe.

I second calling Sam Strano, he'll be able to figure out what's best for you. And if you do buy from him, he'll help you through the install with advice from years of experience.

I also second those stock shocks are the weakest link and should go. Although the car is going to be stiff regardless, good shocks will take away some of the harshness. With the SLP springs and shocks set on my car, the ride is much stiffer, but the bumps actually feel smoother than with the bad shocks and stock springs.

The SLP Bilsteins are good shocks and would probably work well, but the question is would you mind having to replace them again if they wear out? You could buy two sets of them for the price of the Konis, but then there's all the work of changing them again.

I spent about six months debating what I wanted to get for my suspension, so I know how frustrating it can be figuring out what you want to do.

On the bright side, you do already have the springs, so that's one less expense. Also since the springs were changed once before, the front assemblies shouldn't be hard to get apart. Plus you don't have to upgrade to SS sways like many of us have since they're already on your car!

Haha, add hollow 35/22 sways to your list, if you like handling and cornering... Worth it on an SS, IMHO.

Liberty, you seem really concerned about handling, which is fine. I'm not into AX, or into throwing my car around corners at high speeds. If I'm going fast, it's at a stop light to smoke the ricer beside of me. I don't plan to race it, and I don't plan to track it. I just want to have fun driving it daily, and I want it to sound and look good (one of the main reason I want a cam is for sound).


I mean hell, I could go with the Blisteins and new springs and still be cheaper than the Konis, or right around the same price.


BTW, did just order the SLP CAI from LMPerformance, so I have one small thing to install.

My #1 concern is fun street driving as well, I have never picked a modification because I wanted it for the track or autocross -- always chosen what I would enjoy in daily driving. We all know daily driving is not all about straight lines.

And we all know that there are two different ways to enjoy your cars, in a straight line or around a curve, and I prefer the former. I'm going to wait a while before I spend $800 on something that I don't need right away.

63k. I'll probably be researching headers as my next thing, but I've still got to get my power steering hose replaced (small leak) and rear pinion seal replaced.

^ Not too bad, I changed my RS' shocks about that mileage (SLP Bilsteins), and my SS has ~97k -- the stock shocks are way over-baked and really bite... Backs are done, still have to do the fronts (Koni SA).

So much for just introducing your car to us, now we're telling you to spend a ton of money on it.

At 63k, you should have some time do other things to it first. You don't need to do everything at once, that's the fun of it to me. Just make sure you have lots of pics for us whenever you do something.
