I have a 2000 Z28 with a Moonson System including external CD player. I also have a Moonson head unit in my 93. The Moonson in the 2000 has a cassette in the head with a multi disk CD player in the back. The 93 has a CD in the head unit. (the moonson that came in my 93 has a 2000 manufacture date)

Can I put the CD head moonson system in the 2000 Z28? Will the remote CD player work with the CD head? is there some type of security issue?

Now that I have a external CD player, this is what I need to hook up a MP3 player.

I am pretty sure that any Delco radio before mid 99 that has an integral CD player, will not support the external CD changer. But if your head unit in the 93 is actually a 2000, then no problem. My 98 head unit did not support the CD changer that I added, so I swapped that with a 2001 head unit that worked. Certain earlier radios with the internal tape drive will support the external CD changer.

About the Aux jack, you will have to keep the external changer continuously playing a CD in order to use that jack. Of course, you won't hear it because the audio lines from the CD changer will be redirected to the Aux jack. The head unit will always "think" it's playing a CD, which it will be.

 

The more I think about it I am amazed no aftermarket company made a external replacement for the CD player.

 

yes I think they offered both in my 99 .the .cassette was offered or the cd as an option ,this one had the cd ,I don't see in aux input on mine for mp3 ,they have those ones that go into power outlet that send .signal through a radio station ,there like 15.00 ,its the way I may go to play mp3 ,I see the stereos selling for 100.00 + ,like mine its great shape one speaker need replaced on the door ,but other wise all one needs great sound,mine is the monsoon cd ,...
