Massey, I have to replace my water pump on my 97 Z/28. I see the A1 Cardone reman pumps are available at O'Reilly's for $69.99. Being retired and the fact that this is a much better price than a new Duralast from Autozone, plus the car is not a daily driver except for summer, do you reccomend this pump? Here is the link for the pump on their site: Cardone 58-470 - Water Pump | O'Reilly Auto Parts
Thanks in advance.

The A1C pump in this case is not my favorite but they are usually ok. With the Opti right below this pump I dont feel comfortable with a remanned. Unfortunatly the New Pumps are quite a few $$$s more. They are both lifetime warranties but neither one will cover a dead opti if they fail.
Also if you ever need a new cap or rotor for your opti, just buy a Richporter New Opti unit from O'Reilly's, it is cheaper than the cheap cap/rotor kit, has a lifetime warranty and comes with a new cap and rotor. If it comes time to change the cap and rotor then bring the whole unit in and get a new free one! Neet trick really.

I put this water pump on my Vette, so far so good....GMB North America 130-7100 - GMB OE Replacement Water Pumps - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Hey guys, I bought a brand new GMB 130-7100. It was $119.95 plus tax. I imagine I should change the thermostat. I have not torn the car down yet. My question now is this. Is the thermostat on this engine like the ones on my 92 Chevy 350 engines? What I mean is are these the type with the split rubber o-ring type or do they have a standard gasket? Just covering all bases before I start. Thanks.

Not sure if they are the same or not. I would get the OEM temp T-stat and gasket and have that done when you do the water pump. Might as well get do it while you have it apart.
Remember, the LT1 may be a Small Block Chevy but it is NOT the same as the older SBC engines. All chevy small blocks are NOT the same. There is about 6 different variations in the first and second gen engines.
