Default LT1/LS1 Magnaflow/Flowmaster Cat-backs on 3.8

So, what are the differences in the cat-back systems from the v8s to the v6s? If I were to run across an aftermarket Flowmaster or Magnaflow cat-back made for the LT1 or LS1, what problems would I run across when putting it on the v6? I'm pretty sure it could be put on my car just as easy as an LT1 or LS1, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, would it sound really bad?

Different size piping is used on the V8's (V6 is 2.5" and V8 is 2.75" or 3" I forget), and cat location is different as well (LS1 cats are up by the manifolds). There is a difference in the LT1 and LS1 but I am not sure exactly what. You would really need to get a V6 specific catback exhaust.

Wouldn't that only take a reducer/adapter to make work? I mean most aftermarket exhausts are 3" anyways aren't they? The location of the cat would pose a problem but if I would need to get it cut and welded anyways then how would there be a difference?

The Magnaflow I bought for my v6 didn't have 3" piping iirc, it was the same size as the stock one. Are you looking at buying a used muffler or catback?

I had a z28 exhaust put on my v6 no problem at all. And yes just have them use a pipe adapter. It'll work fine and sound good.

Failed Devices, I just bought a muffler, but I ran into a couple good deals on cat-backs so I'm trying to decide what to do. Someone tell me where these cheap muffler places are that'll do the welding for <$60.
Chaotic, was yours the stock z28 cat-back? The ones I'm looking at right now are aftermarket I believe, but made for the LT1 and LS1s. They're used so not too expensive, but I'm not sure if anyone has done this and it might sound like sh**.

I would weld it for ya cheap (if you were closer OFC) but installing it is less fun =P

Yes mine is a stock z28 dual exhaust. But it sounds better than the Flowmasters because it's not raspy like the Flowmasters or Magnaflows...

I guess my question is, would the aftermarket flowmaster/magnaflows for lt1s/ls1's sound any worse on a v6 than an aftermarket fm/mf made specifically for the v6s?
