LS1 all teh wayyy.

Spend months if you have to lookin, took me over 6 months to finally find my T/A. If you want a 6 spd, I would try to find one with a 6 spd already instead of attempting a swap down the road.

around here 5K is the going price for a high mileage LS1 around my neck of the woods too. We get around 8-9K for low mileage ones (under 80K). Having worked on both and I own an LS I would go for the LS over the LT any day of the week. The biggest reason is getting to the plugs and that stupid Optispark. Optispark was a great idea and I like how they did it but the design could have been alot better. Look at the MSD replacement and it was designed better and does not fail like the GM model. I have no idea why GM didnt redesign it after they started failing (some even failed before the cars left the lot). My choice is spend a little more get alot better.

Ha, yeah that was me. I noticed in some of the pics too that the t/a looked sort of blue/purple too. Around where I am I have seen 02 SS's with about 20k miles priced as high as $22k at dealers and private sellers, some of these guys are just rediculous on their pricing. I was tempted to buy a silver SS that was priced at $17k (maybe negotiate it down a $1000 or so, but still), but the car wasn't worth that money to me.

I picked my 98 ls1 up for 3800 but I had to do an brakes all around and replace the tranny but that still only put me in high 4000 low 5000 range and it runs like a top so you should always keep your eyes out for a good project also.

yeah, as long as it doesnt take a year or to to get back on the road..if i get my uncles, i need a new rear end..then i would do a M6 swap so id just buy a moser 12 bolt with 4.11's so thats takin care of..

low to mid range miles (20k-100k) would be nice to but i aint picky..as long as its a LS1 4th gen with a m6 or a bad a4 to give me a reason to do a m6 swap i can care less bout everything else

Like everyone else says, just be patient and keep looking. I was looking for mine for 6-8 months before I found a steal of a price. Got it for $3500ish + tax, tags, title, etc. Only real issue is the body work, and I have a good friend who is giving me a great price. Of course at 127k miles I need to do some routine maintenance but that's to be expected with any car. For the mileage and the price she runs like a dream.
