Default LS1 swap

I just bought a 2000 Camaro with a broken engine and am looking to swap it for an LS1. The tranny that's in it right now is an automatic and I'm wondering if I'm going to have to get a manual trans for this to work.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

No. Though I believe the auto tranny for both the 6 and 8 are the same, the bellhousings, and input shafts are different. You don't need to get a manual, but would need to get the right auto.

yes that would work but you need a 4l60e with a v8 (ls) bellhousing. the v6's are different.
