LS1 cam choices
Hey everyone,i need suggestions from your personal experiences with this.I have a 1998 Camaro Z28 LS1 that i just bought LS6 heads,LS6 Intake and throttle body and injectors used off a Z06 Vette with low mialage.I also need to choose a cam that will be best for my engine and upgrades that i have such as SLP Lid,SLP catback exhaust,3:73 gears.Which size cam should i put and if i have to get better springs than the LS6 ones i will do that.
Thanks Brad.

Depends on what you want to do. You can go pretty big with that set up, go mild, or go with a hot cam.
Are you planing on getting the car tuned?

If your going for a super sleeper around a 226-228 on a 114 lsa or smaller. If you want something with more mid range and grow around a 232-334 on a 113lsa, once you start going past that are are getting into the big boys. I personally like low 23X cams on a 113 or 114 lsa. They drive great, sound mean, are easy to tune, and offer good low to mid range power with plenty of lift to feed her up top.

You've gotten good advice so far. Bigger is usually only better in race cars and it sounds like you want a nice, quick, street car. Headers should be a consideration as well. You did not say if your stick or automatic. If you get an aggressive cam for a stick, it might not work as well with the automatic without switching to a higher stall convertor, and more money. Call the cam companies and ask their techs. Call several of them and get specs. then compare. They will be fairly close on cam specs. recommendations. That should get you in the ball park. Pick the one you like.
