Default lowering springs

i decided soemtime in the next week i'm buying lowering springs

i've got about every tool(hand tool, and lots of power tools, no spring compressor)at my disposal(my dad used to be a full time mechanic, and he also builds houses)i was wondering if i could change out the springs myself? do i need a tool to compress the springs? i read(here http://www.machevo.com/howdoiinsp.html)that i can basically let the springs shoot out?

if not, give me a general price range how much i would pay a mechanic to do this in a shop?

and do i need to get new shocks? if so, what kind of shocks, default, sports, etc?

links would be appreciated!

and what do you guys think about these-

I would prefer you didn't let the front springs just 'shoot out'. stored energy + you in the way = bad news bears

How do you expect to get the front springs on if you let them just pop out of there? You will need to compress them. The rears don't need to be.

oh wow, i thought the spring compressor would be some sort of compact machine, but it's only like 30 bucks lol, what do you think of those springs on ebay?

spend a few more bucks and buy a real brand, you already have a pan hard bar. its recommended to get a adjustable one if you lower it over 1.5, but you dont have to. just bring your front struts in to a shop and have them do it, it costs all of 20 bucks.

Like some of these guys said, take your front struts to a shop, it's pretty cheap to get it done. The springs on ebay, I don't know. Never heard of them. You should check the suspension section and ask in there. I heard QA1's are good, but they cost some good cash. You don't have to go the QA1 route and get somethingpriced moresensiblyand still have good springs.

I agree with Import, spend a little extra money and get a more well known brand, you'll be happier with them in the long run.
