Question loose convertible top

i know this is a camaro forum.....but please help anyway. i just bought a 2001 trans am ws6 convertible. the top is still in pretty good condition but is a little loose on top. i cant find any posts on this. as far as i can see you have to take apart the front by the windshield where it is glued pull it tighter.... and re-glue?? just want to see if there is and easier fix to snug up the top. thanks in advance

Yes, you have to pull it at the header bow. There's a band with a bunch of little screws that hold the retaining band in place. Lift the top halfway, unscrew those little Phillips screws, then pull down about an inch or so and replace.

Here's the pic of when I installed my top. The yellow crayon mark was the original edge when left loose. Right below that is the band you have to remove to tighten the top - and since your top was in place already, I wouldn't tighten it too much.

By loose, do you mean the fabric or the fit to the header?

How much of the top is hanging over the back window? You may need to replace the whole top if it's not covering the top of the back window, or pull it tighter in the back.

my back window also came unglued from the top, took it to a window glass place & they told me to get some glue that would work for both the top & window, pull the top about 3/4 down to glue, let it dry for some 4 hours & it should work. gotta try it this weekend.

sorry dont mean to take over your thread but does anyone know what glue would be good for this?
