Default Loose front end??

Ok so this has been a problem for some time now. When I drive down uneven roads the steering wants to pull the car all over. Now i know i need new shock but would that be causing it or could there be something else that I'm over looking? The steering wheel is still tight so I don't think its the rack.

Tie rod ends, ball joints, bushings, bad tires, bad shocks, etc.., any front end part.

So lame. Guess I really should change the shocks. The tie rods, ball joints and bushings are still good. Tires are wearing out but they aren't as bad as the backs are now.

Lower A-Arm bushings and an alignment -- made a big difference in how tight my front end was even after putting in new shocks!

Are you still running original shocks? How many miles on the car? Regardless, OEM shocks need to go -- they suck. Look into Bilsteins.

Did this start happening after you got new tires? This same thing happened to me after I replaced two tires with another manufacturer and size. They put a different size (larger or smaller I don't remember which) on the front and when I'd drive down the road the car would almost jerk with the changes in the pavement. They switched the tires and everything was perfect afterwards.

To answer your question no shocks will not cause a car to wander. Something loose or various alignment settings can cause it. Take it to get aligns I if you have play anywhere they will tell you. You can not align a car that has play in it.

No these tires are pretty old now. 3 summers and alot of tire spinning. Its been noticable this summer only. I use 2 sets of tires one set of 215 for winter and a set of 245 for summer and it's only been a problem with the 245.

Liberty ya they are stock. There isn't even 100k on the car but these shocks have had enough. I'm looking at getting some of those shocks soon.

Gorn would it be control arm bushings or more so in line parts like ball joints and tierods?

Any clearance can cause it. Control arm bushing and ball joints would feel the same on a test drive. The end result is a tire that is sloppy and tend to follow any defects in the road.

I'll have to tear the front apart and check everything out. Maybe I'll end up replacing everything and have a fresh start.
