Default Lights ON in dash!

Hey my son is driving back from Oregon with my 93 Z as some of you know. He called me and said theres 4 lights on.!!!!

ABS Inop
BRAKE
A Red box with an arrow inside the tach section
Security

When the car is shut down the lights all go off and stay off for a wile, then come back on after driving for a while.

He says there seems to be no problems with the brakes or how the car is running. Whats up?

let it cool off and check the coolant level. i think the arrow is low coolant light and could just be the sender/sensor. oh boy, sounds like you got some issues. could be easy could be not. abs could be the center brake light is burnt out, brake light could be a leak or the switch on the e brake, the security light is most likely the vats system. the gages could be the temp sensor and oil pressure sensor. both common to fail.

My son called a few minutes ago and said shortly after speaking with him lst time all the lights went off and stayed off since! Is there a common plug in type deal that the dash is fed by? The water pump and radiator has been replaces only a couple of months ago. He said the lights all came on at the same time. Hes about 500 miles from home and I think he'll be fine... just kinda worried about him.
Thanks!!

yes there is but you have to take the dash apart to get to it. may as well check all the fuses. there are two fuse boxes, one on the driver side end of the dash, have to open door to get to it. the other is under the hood, black box on the forward side of the fenderwell on the driver side. check the fuses.

That one light IS the coolant level sensor. I replaced the sensor, light went out for good. It came on right after I replaced my water pump, and opti spark. I also had the security problem. Take the key to a good locksmith as I did, and if he sells the GM ignition key, as the locksmith by me did, he will be able to check the resistance instantly and tell you if its the key losing its ability to hold the proper amount of ohm resistance. If it is losing the ability to hold the ohm resistance, then you'll need a new key at which point the computer will read the key properly, and security light should stay off. If the key is fine, the issue is in the column.
