Huh? Where are you that you have to turn in your plates? Everywhere I've ever lived you destroy them yourselves.

Nope, here in IL (where NovaBrad is also), once we get the plates they're ours for keeps. Yearly renewal stickers go on the same back plates every year, and they never get turned back in under any circumstances. Cops here have better things to do than stop us to complain about a plate being cut. Quite a few cars even drive around without front plates, but cops in certain towns can be sticklers about it, and others let it slide.

Its the same way in Ia, you just put the renewal sticker on top of the old one. Problem is the town I'm living in they're kind of sticklers about front license plates and window tinting.

Same here, more so on the window tint. I got pulled over for that once. Cop was nice about it, but said make sure it's off next time he sees my car. That town is on a main highway, is on the way to and from work, so it's kinda hard to avoid. They also pull over a good number of DUI's late at night, so all they need is a "good reason" to stop you.
