Default Left side blinker...I know it's been asked a thousand times.

Okay, okay, I know the blinker question has been asked a thousand times, but I can't find a good answer. Here goes:

Left side blinker kept going out on me because the connector was horribly torched. I went out and bought me a new connector and soldered it in. My blinker worked perfectly.

A few days later I noticed that the daytime running lamp was only on sometimes. Specifically, before I used the blinker. Once I used the blinker after the starting the car, the blinker and the daytime running lamp didn't work. Weird thing was, if I turned the car off and restarted it, the DRL worked fine, and so did the blinker, until I used the blinker once. That lasted about 5 days. Now I am back to square one. The bulb is out again; completely blown apart.

I don't believe the problem is relay related at all because the right side blinker works fine. Also, the corner light works fine, but I am unsure if that is on the same circuit as the DRL.

I don't know where to go with this. Does anybody have a wiring diagram for a 2002 v6 or any ideas? My next idea was to get alligator clips from the connector into the cab so I can watch the voltage through a meter and maybe see a spike in V.

sounds like you have the bulb in backwards or the wires got crossed when you wired in the new bulb socket.

wiring scheme:

black to black
brown to brown

The new connector came with a green pigtail instead of a blue pigtail, but I don't think this matters, right?

Also, no matter which way I put the bulb in, I get the same filament that comes on; for both the DRL and blinker. The large filament, 3057 bulb, never comes on. Is this the way it should be?

both filiments should be being used. one for brake lights and blinkers (bright) and one for parking lights. dang i cant remember which is which. all three wires should be used.

you may have the two lights switched have a look at the other side.

Everything seems identical to the other side. Wiring is the same and all. The same filament lights up when the blinker is on as when the DRL is on. It seems that both sides do not use the bigger filament in the 3057 bulb.

On a strange note, I left the car running for a bit with the left blinker blinking, after installing a new light bulb, after a few minutes it went out. I then reset the blinker lever on the column, and watched as the blinker worked again. Weird.

should have two hot wires goin to the socket. test them with a volt meter. see if one has power when the brakes are on and one has power when the parking lights are on. at least get that part done.
