Left Directional Signal/blinker is SOLID lite, no sound, right blinker works w/Sound
Hi, all,
I'm hoping someone experienced this same issue,....
My Left Directional Signal/blinker is A SOLID GREEN lite AND, no sound, right blinker works w/Sound FINE tho
The info from my backyard free lance mechanic of 14 yrs said it could be 1) fuse 2) Relay under hood 3) bulb
A week ago, I did put the left compartment triangle back on after I noticed it was on the floorboard of the driver side, may have fell off during me closing the door may be a bit too hard?
Could this have done something to the underbelly of the driver's side dashboard, where all the wires are from?
Maybe I hit a bump on the road to hard?
Because after the directional blinker not flashing, and no clicking noise indicating a turn signal being activated, I stepped outside, looked at the rear left lite (If u need any directional signal to be flashing, and had a choice, it would be the rear light) well he rear left light not wasn't flashing, instead the front left light was solid.
I opened the hatchback trunk and pushed the wires some leading to the bulb, closed the trunk and then pushed ALL the fuses in that left side inside the cabin - compartment.
TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN....AND LO AND BEHOLD, IT FLASHED LEFT INSIDE FOR LIKE 4 SECONDS, THEN TURNED SOLID! WHAT A BUMMER
My cracker jack top notch mobile mechanic of the last 3 years said there's this switch under the ignition key, under your feet as u sit on the driver's side, the compartment underbelly that can be pushed?
Yesterday, A neighbor mechanic told me the fuse at the left of the steering wheel that same triangular plastic part was good,
so was the relay under the hood
The underbelly under the steering wheel he said has a silver tube can type of thing that cost $5 or less and you need a needle nose plier to help replace this part
If you recall, I had a neighbor mechanic this was the same neighbor who checked it yesterday, well way back, he's the dude who took off my alternator, had it tested it at autozone on my birthday about 2 yrs ago
then could not put on the fan belt after he put back the alternator so I have almost little or no confidence in him
His theory that under the steering wheel is a plastic compartment housing wires and a silver can type of thing is in tune with my top notch mobile mechanic's idea that under the ignition key is a switch or a thingy that either needs to be pushed, reset or replaced
Any help would me very much appreciated
thanks in advance so very much

Update, no didn't fix it yet, but got the following info. LINK ON ANOTHER CAMARO FORUM IS AT THE BOTTOM
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, IS THIS AN IDIOT-PROOF JOB That maybe my neighbor who doesn't even have a mag lite on him, and uses his cellphone for a flsah lite and freakin has his needle nose pliers at his son's house can do?
Im not trying to spend more than $100 with my ACE top notch mobile mechanic of 4 yrs.
orig question:
When I put my left turn signal on the lights on the car and on the dash will not flash, they lit. However, the right turn signal works fine. Any ideas?
answer
It is you blinker relay .
Turn on the blinker that works and follow the clicking sound.
Should be under the driver side dash about the knee and shin area.
It is a round silver cylinder. 1 inch in diameter and 1 to 2 inch's tall.
You can get them at any auto part store for 2.00 to 10.00 dollars.

when a blinker bulb burns out the blinker will not blink but be on and not blink. its a way to tell if bulb is not working. I would say most likely you have a bad bulb or a bad connection going to it. it could be a wire or could be the connection inside the bulb holder, inside the bulb holder if you take out the bulb and look inside you will see two lead things that line up with the power connections on bottom side of the bulb. these connectors, both in the bulb holder and the bulb can wear or get dirty and prevent a good connection causing bulb to not light up.

i quote my orig post quote:

TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN....AND LO AND BEHOLD, IT (the left turn signal) FLASHED green NSIDE (the cockpit cabin) FOR LIKE 4 SECONDS, THEN TURNED SOLID greeen! WHAT A BUMMER END QUOTE
IT DID HAVE ELECTRICAL CORD LEADING TO THE LEFT REAR BULB, SO IT COULD BE SENSITIVITY WIRE ISSUES DUE TO CLOSING THE HATCHBACK TRUNK OR GOING OVER A POT HOLE
Thanks to u both again

Sounds like a bad connection alright, maybe a simple fix but may need a new fixture, time to pull it apart and check /clean connections and pull bulb out and check the socket.
Could be it just needs a good cleaning.

Loose ground or bad socket?
Possible loose ground connection. I used to have this problem in my Celica. The ground wire screw connection was screwed into the plastic housing and would loosen up with driving. Find the grounding screw and make sure it's tight.
Possible bulb socket deterioration. Some 4th gens have holes at the corners of the hatchback for drainage, this could cause rust and deterioration of the bulb sockets. Remove the bulb and inspect the socket for rust, corrosion or anything else that could affect the connection.
It probably couldn't hurt to replace the bulb. Though it did work for 4 seconds, it's possible the filament is bad and overheats too quickly causing it to shut off.
Hope one these helps, good luck.
