Default Knowledge on t-tops

hey everybody im trying to take my camaro coupe and turn it into a t-top or a targa top and not sure on weather it possible or if it is costly? I havent seen any targa top camaros but would be cool and plausible since c5 corvettes have them couldnt be to hard to make, second coupe style from t-top is only a peice of metal on the t-top frame again not hard i think to make custom, if anyone has any information on this or just want to throw in your opinion feel free id like to hear some of your opinions.

Sorry, I don't have a real informative reply. Although, I think I remember searching through the forums and on the internet about doing that and came to the conclusion that it's really not something you want to do. I don't remember all the reasons, but I don't think it was just a cost issue. It seems like there might have been a structural concern that would prevent you from wanting to do it (a rigidity problem). I remember searching about it because my camaro doesn't have t-tops, but I really like them. But I've decided I'm probably better off anyway, because they usually end up leaking.

Is your car a v6 or v8. I will trade you a ragtop Z28.

The targa top will end up removing a lot of the roof structure of the car, you would have to fabricate an underbody brace, or beef up the underbody somehow so the car doesn't twist apart or fold in half (not saying that it would, but there would most likely be some sag, especially after time).

Your best bet: find somebody willing to trade/sell you for a T-Top or 'vert. Honestly I almost guarantee it would be cheaper in the end.

no matter what it will leak, leak, leak. and squeak squeak squeak. Do yourself a favor, dont. Sounds like a great idea, but unless the shop that is going to do it will stand by their work,so if it does leak or squeak, they will fix it. You are looking for headaches. Plus, your system wont sound as good, system as in stereo.
