Just an update. It certainly was the old aftermarket alarm that was the problem. I had a brand new alarm put in and they removed entirely the old alarm free of charge, and put this one in, and I've not had any of those problems since. I'm actually getting some power locks installed today which will work well with the alarm that was installed.
