Intermittent SES Issues

its a 97 how many miles do you have? and after running for a while do the cats get excessively hot? when they start to plug up they throw wierd codes around. also will more aggressive driving set it off?

It's got about 114k on it. I haven't checked anything for heat after driving (where are these cats you speak of?) and I don't really drive the car too hard, most of the time I'm just cruising on the highway from work.

Craby, I'll get the codes read. I haven't had the battery disconnected so they should still be there.

cats are catalytic converters. if they get plugged they can get really hot and stink. exhaust can also make a hissing noise.
