This thread is a follow up of the "coolant leak" thread.

Vehicle leaking coolant through the intake manifold, did some research to find this is a common pronlem because of the dexcool coolant that destroys that particlar gasket.

Goin to replace myself

While im there, any other items i shuld replace or wrry about ?

Air box plenum

drain the coolant using the plugs or valve on the side of the block, passenger side is the knock sensor if memory serves. i used some old pencil pieces to help guide the intake on so i could put it down correctly the first time. just need to trim very little and they screw in the holes. i put 4 pieces of pencil in the inside holes on each corner then without rtv but with the gaskets i set the intake in as if to install and marked the pencils so they would be sort but long enough to grab onto with some needle nose pliers after the intake is set in, the intake will not clear the ends of the pieces if they are too long. so pull it out and set it down to make sure it clears, then i removed the intake and put a bead of rtv on each end of the block, make sure to get enough down but not so much its going to run down into the motor when installed. now while getting the intake in you can put it down on the guides to hold the intake away from the rtv and once lined up with the guides it will go right in without any sideways movement that would mess up the beads on the ends. this is what mine looked like. i had just did the intake several months before.

lol,,, i gotta quit doin this late at night. i just noticed the upper and lower gasket part which means this is a v6 and not a lt1. perfect example of why you need to let us know what motor a person is working on. and imo the green antifreeze is the stuff to use. i dont use the orange stuff
