Improving gas mileage through aerodynamic improvements
I'm pretty good with my understanding of ECU's, but not a genius, would the high flow cats throw a code? or does the camaro not have a sensor after the cat?
Do what you can to get as much as possible out of the car, and alter your driving habits for the rest. Here's some pretty interesting statistics on drafting. The closer the better, but some truck drivers might not appreciate you being back there. Drafting Behind Trucks: Does it Work? : TreeHugger

agree with gorn,,, a few bolt ons and get it tuned you should gain hp and mpg. pcmforless or solomon at lt1pcmtuning although im not sure if solomon does the newer v6s.

You could change to higher rear end gears so that more throttle opening is needed to maintain road speed. This will reduce engine pumping losses making the engine run more efficiently. However, this will make acceleration more sluggish, and if you make the gears too high, more downshifting will be needed, thus making the whole excersise futile. One of the reasons diesel engine are so efficient is that they are running at WOT all the time, and the engine does not waste energy trying to suck air through a partially closed throttle.

FYI ECM (Electronic control module) is old engine control only systems. PCM (Powertrain control module) is used on newer cars.
Also as Z28pete said gears are a very good way to improve mileage. When I built my comuter I was looking for upgrades that gave both MPG and made the car fun to drive. Also Tunup and new primary O2 sensors are a first thing if it has not been done yet.

Yes the high flow cat will set a code if everything is working right. There several ways to work around this. You can install a adapter that with back the after cat O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream a little or when you get the car Tuned you get that function tuned out.

Ok, thanks for the correction, I was planning on running some detergents and such through the engine to try and break up any old carbon deposits and such. The car isn't going to be modified anytime soon, but do you know where to find the adapter at to bypass the sensor?
