Default important question regarding a grinding noise from the rear !!!need advice please.

ok guys, im not sure how to explain this exactly but ill do my best, at times when im in a parking lot and trying to park but i have the wheels tilted maybe about 45 degress approx i feel and hear a grinding noise from my rear end, it only does it when im going so slow, i mean trying to park that's how slow !!! when i go faster it dosen't do it...it dosen't sound good at all, grinding noise in my book equals to not very good news !!! is this coming from my brakes maybe? or is it the rear end ? please if you know what the problem is would be greatly appreciated.

Its the rear end bro, my car does this too. This problem is very common among the 4th gen Camaro's because these rear ends are garbage. Changing the oil might help.

No you probably don't need a new rear end and it is safe to drive. If the noise is high pitched, its probably nothing. Like I said changing the gear oil might help to quiet it.

You didn't say whether you have limited slip or not. If you do, it's very possible the clutches are gummed up and sticking from the old oil. That would make a more pronounced noise when making slow turns, if you're hearing a kind of a chattery clunk-clunk sound. Changing the oil, along with putting the lsd additive in, and taking the car to a parking lot to do a number of slow figure 8's to work the new stuff in would then take care of it (providing that is what the problem is).

yeah i do have limited slip diff in there, i have the factory 323's...whats weird is it only grinds like that when my wheels are tilted, but when i drive it staright into the stall it dosen't grind !!!! anything higher than 10 kph is fine...only at very very low speed. i guess i should go get the diff oil changed then, do u guys recommend going synthetic ? or just go to GM and get the dealer to do it and put GM stuff in there.

it only grinds when your turning because the inside wheel turns slower than the outside wheel

for the oil just use like an 85-140 gear oil
