I definitely agree with 95slvr on this one - probably opti based on your description of a slowly worsening misfire situation - if you had bad, or shorted/melted plug wires you would more than likely have a misfire and throw a code even at low rpm. You said you ran OBD and found nothing, but with a misfire like that you HAVE to be throwing at least one code. I would probably ask a GM guy in your town to hook up his Tech 2 to your car and get a proper and clear reading on whatever codes you're throwing. I've found their $4000 scanner is a lot more accurate than one you purchase at pep boys for $100.

a guy i know has a snap-on diagnostics tool , that should do the trick .. Were gonna hook it up on sunday , see if we can come up with anything ....

Well, I wouldn't necessarily go as far to say that you would for sure be throwing a code if you had a bad plug wire. I had a plug that was completely fouled and my SES light never came on...

so heres the new news .... it started breaking up real bad today at idle, So i gave it some gas , it spitted and sputterd and then it cleard up , Then my check engine light came as well as my abs inop lite too so i shot to autozone and pulled the codes . it was code 41 and 36 which were , 41 was opti open or grounded ? then 36 was dis ign pulse error ? But then i started it and all the lights were off and it was fine, well back to missing and stuff ... im just gonna take it to gm and let the pros have a stab at her ya know ... thanks guys for your help you the best .. any ideas?

Well, seeing as how code 41 deals with the opti...I'd say you've probably located your problem, sounds like you need a new opti.

just a update for all that was helping me out on this one....I took it to gm and they ran it on tech , They said it was he distributer assy... now im guessing thats the opti-spark correct cause when i said to him "oh so i need a new opti " ? he said a what ?? lol

Yes, the distributor on your car is the Opti (full name is the "Optispark distributor")
