Ignition issue...Is this supposed to be here ?
Im having a strange issue that I cannot figure out. When i first got the car, It ran pretty good, but i knew it had more potential. So i swapped the plugs, they looked pretty clean but i had the new ones anyway and changed them. Performance increased a little, mostly in throttle response. While driving (racing) I missed third a few times and got wicked backfires (gun shot loud). As time went on, it started popping on engine breaking/loaded downshifts, so I changed the fuel filter and the wires. After doing the wires, it seemed like it sounded better, but still had the backfire/popping issues. SO I did the coil, and now it drives like ****, High RPM popping and breaking up, backfires whenever i let off the gas. High RPM sounds like popping and banging all over the place above 3000 RPM and doesnt seem to want to climb. Im running out of ideas besides the Opti, but didnt know what this item was wired into the coil. Any ideas?
Also just bought fuel pressure tester, and will post results TM

Do an oil change and examine the oil for metal debris. This is sounding like a flat cam. An exhaust leak can cause the popping as you decelerate but not at high speed. At high speed an exhaust leak will throw the o2 sensors off a little but it will not buck and pop.
A bad opti usually will not cause popping through the exhaust unless it is not firing and the fuel is burning in the cat. This will throw a code on OBDII computers which will be on a 96 or 97. What year is your car?

I did them one by one but will double check when I do all m y diagnostics tommorow. Picture was an attachment, and shows a taped up relay looking box with black and white wires going through it
93 LT1, cats are removed and straight pipe welded in. No known exhaust leaks, just minor pin hole where the welds are, that I will patch up later
