Default idling issues and power steering problems

I have several questions...

I have a 95 3.8L V6. Auto and the other night, after replacing the window motor, I was headed home and the car died on me while sitting at a stop light. I started it back up, but it would fail to idle. After reving the engine for a while the car decided to idle again... then it happened again about fifteen min later. This incidence has not occured since then, but I was just curious to see if anyone has had this problem. I am thinkin I might start by cleaning the mass airflow sensor.

2nd....

When i bought the car, the power steering pump was leaking real bad. I changed the pump yet it still remains to leak a small amount... so I have ordered new pressure and return hoses. hopefully that will fix it. But the issue was when i cranked the steering wheel to the left hard... and it hit the stopping point, it would pop the belt off the motor. This has happened twice and not sure if it has anything to do with the slippery belt from the leaking power steering fluid.

anyways, any thoughts would be nice.

thanks

Have your battery & alternator checked first -- obviously you need to have good voltage for the car to run.

Popping the belt with the steering at full lock position could be due to a greasy belt, but could also indicate that a pressure relief valve is not working, this can also lead to blown hoses.

Got plenty of power, volt meter reads fine. And I figured It would have something to do with the slippery belt. I will try to get those new hoses put one tomorrow and hopefully that will stop the leak so the belt aint so slippery. Thanks.

alright... got the hoses swapped, but still drippin fluid... But... as far as I can tell, doest look like I am loosing much from the reservoir. hopefully this is just the junk that has been flung over the engine dripping off. After a few miles maybe I can tell. I am just hoping it is not the steering rack. Ever heard of that failing?
