Im not sure if this is the right thread to ask this in but does anyone know if you need to replace the IACV if the pintle detached from the motor? I pulled it out to clean it since It was idling rough and would occasionally stall when idling. As I pulled it out I noticed the pintle wasnt threaded into the IACV motor at all. The threads dont seem to be stripped and im able to screw the pintle back into the IACV motor but im not sure if it will still work or if it will unthread itself again when I start the car. I wanted to ask on here what you guys thought so I could get a second opinion before I spend 40 bucks on a new one.

I have not see this before, you could try it. It might rev high at first till it re-finds home. The real question is how did it happen in the first place.

Whatever holds the pintle to the stepper motor must be worn out. I reinserted the old one back into the throttle body and started the car. I think it's trying to fully open the valve and whatever holds the pintle to the stepper motor cant handle the tension from the spring and the pintle falls back out. As I tried to remove it this time the pintle fell off the IACV and actually fell down into the throttle body . So I just got done taking apart the intake so I could fit a stick magnet past the throttle to fish out the damn pintle. Im just replacing the IACV later tonight, its probably what I should have done to begin with.
