Ok so I finnally got around to finishing replacing the clutch. New TO, PP, disc, and flywheel resurfaced. Clutch fluid filled, master cylinder works fine. My old clutch was definantly on its way out but wasnt broken or in any pieces. The exact same problem still persists....... WTF is going on? Car has new opti/plugs/wires/fuel filter/fresh gas/oil filter/trans fluid. Its fine for about 5min and then as soon as the temp gets above 120 it starts acting up and gets worse the warmer it gets (thats what it seems like anyway, could be in my head). Today I bliped the throttle in 5th and I heard a loud Bang! from the drivers side front of the car, but nothing else happened and it continued to go down the road like it has been. I am so lost right now.....please help.

Let the car warm up and have someone check the slave for proper movement.

I had a mechanic drive it and look at it and he doesn't seem to have any clue to what is causing the problem either. He thought it might have been the trans mount but I replaced that too when I did the clutch. I bought a new slave but my mechanic said the slave was fine. I really don't think its a clutch/slave/master issue as engagement gear changes etc. are fine. I was thinking maybe plugged cat also? That wouldn't solve my bang issue though. When it first happened i thought I had thrown a rod but obviously that wasn't it.

I'm a little lost as to what issue is still existing. After replacing the clutch and all that, is your car still experiencing the same issues in your first post; revving freely while in gear? Or is it now just tracking down the banging noise?

If it is just the banging noise, best to restart with all the simple things like checking your exhaust mounts, checking the clearance on your headers/manifolds, even check the motor mounts.

Yes same problem as originally posted. Clutch did not fix the issue. The bang is additional, and was a one time thing. It did not reoccur even when trying to replicate what made it happen. It sounded as if something hit the inside of the hood or fender or something. But was definatley either internal to the engine bay or right under my feet, and no I didn't run over something in the road. But my main problem is still the hesitation/not going anywhere. When it acts up, if I really stomp on it it goes like normal, but at cruising speed it hiccups/hesitates/free revs. It seems increasingly prevalent in fourth gear, but does it in any gear under 3000rpm.

So I think I found the cause of my bang. I was looking at everything on the car and noticed that the air filter was no longer attached to the tubing (K&N CAI). So, I am guessing that the car backfired through the intake and shot the cone off and the noise I heard was the car backfiring and the filter hitting the car. Do you think this is related to my issues im having? Does this give anyone anymore ideas as to whats going on???

So if anyone cares, i hooked up a BAMF diagnostic machine to the car that I borrowed from my friends garage. Graphs show right bank O2 being flat (running at around 400 with the left at 900 and is inactive most of the time.) IAT is good, coolant temp reading good, no retard. Car is throwing code 26 but i expected that as the air pump has been removed. I wanted to replace both sensors but it appears the stores here only have one. They are identical correct? both upstream?
