Default I know you have seen this alot but,

I really want to rebuild my engine. That thing is goin down hill fast. It is an lt1, what brands do you think are the best. I wan't to get an estimate on about how much it will cost so i can save up and just do it all at once. I don't really know about cars, I own a ford f-150 and that is my life, I have always liked cars just never had one. So can you guys help me out?

you can get cheap rebuild kits for like 500 -700 for standard things, but if you want some hp, or so atleast you car can handle more hp if you decide to go with forced induction, get a forged rebuild kit with stronger pistons, rods, etc...that will run up about 1500 - 2500 and up...as far as where to get it i dont what the best sites are, there are some onebay, other than that i think jegs and summit sell rebuild kits

Ah, they can be purchased anywhere... from your local parts trader magazine to eBay. Try a local transmission shop. Also, try a salvage yard that sells warrantied parts. I bought a 4L60E from a great salvage yard in Durham, NC, and it was warrantied 6 months against failure. It was 250 bucks and really runs strong. Even if a salvage one you find is in OKAY shape, you can always rebuild it or have it rebuilt. I do know that replacing the 4L60E with a T56 requires some typical modification and I do know that a few months ago, some Chevrolet specialty magazine had a REALLY in depth article about swapping those two exact transmissions on a late model 4th generation Z28 (possibly SS) Camaro. If I can think of it, I'll be sure to let you know.

This link seems to have a lot of helpful information: http://www.afrashteh.com/tranny_pics/T56.htm

No, I'm actually about 70 miles Northeast of Durham. Roanoke Rapids, actually. And yes, City Salvage was simply wonderful to me. VERY easy to deal with, unlike the majority of salvage yards. I simply could not beat the price... they even pulled the parts!
