I heard Fram Oil Filter / Penzoil is Junk?? any truth?
The sad thing is, 'X' company will produce an oil filter with a cheaper element for the first shift of the day, paint it orange, and adhere a FRAM sticker to it. When 2nd shift comes around, they paint them blue and give the filters a Valvoline sticker.
Just like any other huge manufacturing facility. Example: my local town has a facility that produces salads and dips (egg salad, noodle salad, chicken salad, etc.). Much like my previous speculation, this place will make a large batch of potato salad and give it a generic name (say, Food Lion brand) and mid day, they will change containers, raise the price, and give it a more well known name as well as supply it to major U.S. resturants.
So really, an oil filter is an oil filter. For day to day use, regular Valvoline 10W-30 should be way more than efficient.

Fram is what it is. Decent.
WIX/NAPA/Purolator are good, made by same NC firm.
Kendall 10w-30 is great oil for 3800s...
