basically i did a little research and read that Fram OIL filters are junk, is there any truth in this or am I ok if i change my oil between 2-3k miles ?

Is the penzoil synthetic trash as well?

 

Alright ill tell you why penzoil is junk it is a wax based oil so in you engine wax is building up trust me on thisi used to be a penzoil fan til i help rebuild my dads 454ci in his truck with 115K that he also bought new in 79 the oil was change every 3000 and there was wax **** every where on the valve springs pluging oil passages etc. then on therebuilt 454he tried regular Valvoline 10w30 hehas 300k + on it and still runs like a champ.

 

ya depending on how you drive 2-3k not bad at all i do mine every 3-4 months cause i dont drive mine that much i put 4k on it since i bought it last year

i got a "tough guard" by fram

 

ive never had a problem with fram oil filters

 

The regular Fram filters aren't the greatest, not junk, but not good. I use Fram Tough Guard, they do quite well in tests and are considerably better than the regular Fram filters.

 

I use the fram tough guard...but an oil filter is an oil filter...even an ok one works good.

 

I find that using the K&N Gold Oil Filter is the best ive ever used, a little more $$$ but its well worth it, plus i use Royal Pruple oil

 

i talked to someone and they suggested that most companies have a "cheaper" and "premium" filter....I will stick to the fram tough guard when using fram
